Getting Started
Do I have to be in high school to enroll?
Yes, students must be enrolled in high school or have completed it if under the age of 18.
What age can I start driver’s ed?
Students can start the course at 14 and a half.
Is CrashCourse approved by the Wisconsin DMV?
Yes, all of our programming is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Do I need a permit to begin?
Students under 18 do not need a permit to start, but adult drivers must have a valid Wisconsin learner’s permit.
Scheduling
Will I have the same instructor every time?
All students are assigned a primary instructor who oversees your file and ensures program completion. While you may not have them every lesson, they will always review your RealTime Lesson Reports™.
Can I cancel or reschedule a lesson?
Yes. Students must give at least 24 hours' notice (48 hours for adults). Late cancellations are subject to a fee.
Where do lessons start and end?
FastTrack™ students and adults are eligible for home pickup. Classic and Advantage students must select a designated pickup location found at crashcoursewi.com/locations.
How do I cancel a lesson?
Driving lessons (and parent dashboard access) are managed through your CrashCourse dashboard. All changes, including cancellations, should be made there.
Adult Driving
Are adult lessons available on weekends?
Yes, lessons are available 7 days a week for adult learners.
Can I take as many or as few lessons as I want?
Yes. Adults can book a single lesson or multiple lessons—whatever fits your needs, goals, and budget.
Do I need a permit to book adult lessons?
Yes. Adults must have a valid Wisconsin learner’s permit to take driving lessons.
Can I request custom lesson topics?
Yes. Adult learners can work with their instructor to build a Personalized Learning Plan (PLP), including topics like road test prep, parallel parking, and highway driving.
Are your instructors trained to work with anxious drivers?
Yes. All adult instructors are required to complete special training for working with nervous drivers. They must also have at least 3 years of experience and 1,500 hours of on-road instruction.
Can I get a receipt or proof of lessons for work or reimbursement?
Yes, just let us know what documentation is needed and we’ll email it over to you.
Online Course
Is parent approval required to start the online course?
Yes. Both the student and parent must verify their email and sign the enrollment contracts before the course becomes available. This is done digitally via email.
How long do I have to finish the online classroom?
Students have 120 days to complete the course. FastTrack™ students can begin driving while completing the course.
Do I have to pass quizzes?
Yes. Each lesson includes a short quiz to ensure understanding of the material. You may retake quizzes if needed.
Can parents track student progress?
Absolutely. The parent dashboard allows you to monitor progress, view lesson history, and receive RealTime Lesson Reports™ with practice tips from instructors.
What should I do if I’m having trouble accessing the course?
Click the “Help” button in your dashboard. Common issues include using a blocked device, exceeding the 2-hour daily limit, or needing to clear your browser cache.
Licensing & DMV
Does CrashCourse schedule my road test?
No. We do not schedule road tests, but we’ll provide the steps to do it. Visit this DMV page to schedule.
What documents are required for a driver license?
To apply, you’ll need:
- Proof of name and date of birth
- Proof of identity
- Proof of citizenship or legal U.S. status
- Proof of Wisconsin residency
- Social Security number
- Proof of name change (if applicable)
- A completed MV3001 driver license application (provided by CrashCourse)
- REAL ID documentation (if applicable)

What if I lose my permit?
Notify us immediately so we can issue you a new MV3001 form to bring to the DMV for a replacement permit.
Is a practice road test included?
Yes. Every student completes a practice road test during their final behind-the-wheel lesson.
Can I transfer to CrashCourse from another school?
No. We do not accept students who have already started a course at another driving school.
When will the DMV receive my completion certificate?
We send certificates directly to the DMV within 7 business days after program completion.
How will I know I’m ready for the road test?
Your student dashboard will clearly show when all requirements are met and you’re ready to test.
Payments
How do I make a payment?
All payments must be made via credit or debit card on our website. We also accept tuition through the Wisconsin grant program if approved.
Do you charge extra for the payment plan?
Absolutely not. We don’t believe in charging more to make the program more affordable.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Your account will be temporarily placed on hold until the payment is made and the account is brought current.
Can I pay in full instead of using a payment plan?
Yes — just uncheck the payment plan option when enrolling.
Do you offer discounts or promotions?
Yes! Any active discounts are displayed on our homepage and automatically applied at checkout. You’re always getting the best available price.
Can I update my card on file?
Yes — simply log into your dashboard to update your payment method.
Do you charge late fees?
No late fees for missed payments, but all contracts expire after 12 months. If available, a contract extension will include a fee.
Do you offer refunds?
No, we do not offer refunds.
